Family Camp Co-Directors Patty & Glenn Dummerth
Patty and Glenn Dummerth are thrilled to be joining Camp Rainbow as the co-directors of our new Family Camp. However, they are not strangers to the volunteer arena, or to our mission. Patty and Glenn first became aware of a family camp dynamic in 1997, when their daughter was diagnosed with leukemia. Their positive experiences at Camp Sunrise led them to begin volunteering there, and they are now eager to bring their experiences to Camp Rainbow.
As co-directors, this dynamic team has developed creative programming for the weekend of Family Camp, complete with age-appropriate break-out groups of fun activities for all members of a camper’s family. With the young ones engaged in nature walks, craft projects, pontoon boating and beach volleyball, parents/caregivers are free to join in their own groups or simply take some much-needed rest time. At the conclusion of the weekend, a review of surveys submitted by the families help the Dummerths, along with their dedicated volunteer staff, move forward planning even more dynamic activities for the following year. We feel very fortunate to have such an experienced team helping us launch the newest addition to our camping program line-up!
